curly tailed lizard care

Curly tailed lizards  originate  from  peru , the  caribbean  and  cuba.  they  can  be  territorial  and  are  best  housed  alone,  although  females  can  be  housed  together  if  given  enough  space.    a  20  gallon  terrarium  is  recomended  but  you  can  get  by  with  a  10  gallon  terrarium  for  1 curly tailed  but  for  2  females  a  20  gallon  is  the  minimum  cage  size.   remember  to  use  a  screen  top  with  the  terrarium.    curly tails  need  a  temperature  gradient  on  the  warm  side  and  cool  side  of  the  terrarium.  to  regulate  their  body  temperature.  temperature within  the  habitat  should  vary  between  daytime  and  night time  hours.  the  habitat  will  need  two  thermometers  one  on  the  warm  side  and  one  on  the  cool  side.
They  will  need  a  hydrometer  in  the  middle  of  the  cage  to  monitor  humidity  levels.  you  should  also  give  them  a  basking  spot  wich  is  the  hot   spot  of  the  terrarium.  the  warm  side  should  be  85  to  95  on  the  warm  side,  and  75  to  80  degrees  on  the  cool   side.  curly  tails  are  diurnal  wich  means  they  are  awake  during  the  day  and  asleep  at  night.  they  also  need  a  uvb  bulb  sold  at  pet stores  so  they  don't  get  metabolic  bone  disease  a  condition  common  in  reptiles.    for   substrate   use  a   2 to  3  inches  of  reptile  bark  or  coco  fiber  often  sold  at  pet stores.  i  recommend  cleaning  out  the  cage  every  month  depending  on  how  dirty  the  cage  is  to  every  3  weeks.   include   decor  to  elevate  your  lizard  closer  to  the  basking  spot  to  warm  up  better. the  lamps  need  to  on  for  atleast  10  hours  a  day.
Curly  tailed  lizards  are  mainly  insectivores,  meaning  their  diet  consist  primarily  of  insects,  however  they  will  enjoy  occasional  vegetables  and  fruit.
Insects   crickets   mealworms  waxworms  can  be  bought  at  your  local  pet store  but  crickets  should  be  a  daily  staple  becuse  they  have  a  soft  outer  shell.  unlike  mealworms  wich  have  a  hard  to  digest  outer  shell.  and  unlike  waxworms  wich  make  your  lizard  fat.  so  mealworms  and  waxworms  on  occasion.
Vegetables  khale,  chopped  carrots,  cabbage,  are   a  good  choice.
Fruits  banana,  apple,  pear,  strawberry's,  are  all  good  choices.
Water   curly tails  may  drink  from  a  shallow  water  bowls,  and  water  bowls should  be  refilled  and  emptied  daily.

My gecko

He  is  9  month's  old  and  is  lazy  but,  a  nice  reptile  pet  overall  he  was  trying  to  hide  from  me  at  this  time.

My geckos setup

He  has  two  thermometers  and  a  hydrometer.  He  also  has  a  fake  plant  and  some  drift wood.  This  cage  is  made  out  of  screen  wire  mesh  bought  at  a  local  hard ware store.  The  bottom  and  the  top  of  this  enclosure  are  17  inches  in  diameter  plastic  plant  saucer.  But  the  top  I  cut   out  the  middle  and  glued  some  screen  wire  mesh  to  the  top.  Because  if  i  put  the  heat  lamp  on  top  the  plastic  would  melt.  And  so  heat  and  from  the  bulb  can  go  through.

He  does  not  need  this  lamp  because  he  is  nocturnal  but  it  was  a  bit  cold  that  day.

Green tree frog care

The  green  tree  frog  is  native  to  the  southeastern  united  states. They  are  commonly  seen  in  Florida,  South carolina,  Arkansas,  and  southern  Georgia  in  local  shrubbery  of  neighborhoods. They  can  be  heard  calling  at  night  in  the  spring  and  early  summer  next  to  lagoons  and  ponds.  They  are  a  simple  to  care  for  but  attractive  frog  that  make  good  pets.

Setup  since  this  frog  is  native  to  a  semi  tropical  climate  the  habitat  will  need  to  be  semi  tropical. Glass  aquariums  work  the  best  because  they  keep  in  humidity  better  than  alot  of  other  enclosures.  A  10  gallon  aquarium  is  the  minimum  cage  size.  The  enclosure  should  be  taller  than  longer,  because  this  frog  is  arboreal.  Use  a  screen  top  with  the  aquarium  bought  at  local  pet  stores.

For  substrate  use  a  2  to  3  inch  layer  of  coconut  fiber  or  bark  bedding  bought  at  local  pet  stores.

Decor  this  can  be  drift wood,  cork  bark,  and  other  stix  and  branches. If  branches  are  taken  from  out side  they  must  be  cooked  in  the  oven  for  10  min  at  450  degrees.

You  also  need  foliage  live  or  fake  plants  fake  plants  are  the  best  because  their  is  no  risk  of  the  plant  dying.  Live  plants  should  be  used  in  larger  enclosures,  and  can't  get  too  hot  under  heat  bulbs  or  they  will  bake  and  die.

Water  this  frog  needs  a  water  bowl  in  the  cage.  And  these  frogs  need  de- chlorinated  water.   Clean  out  water  bowls  daily.

Lighting  these  frogs  are  nocturnal  so  you  don't  need  any  special  lighting  bulbs.

Heating  you  can  use  a  under tank  heater  or  human  heat pad  on  one  side  of  the  cage  for  heating.  DON'T  put  the  heat pad  in  the  middle  of  the  cage.

Food  these  frogs  are  insectivores  wich  means  they  eat  mostly  live  insects.  Crickets  are  a  main  staple,  but  you  can  feed  mealworms  and  waxworms  on  occasion.

Clean  out  the  frogs  wast  weekly  and  clean  the  cage  once  a  month.

Life  Span  5  to  7  years

Size  2  to  3  inches

White spotted gecko care

White spotted geckos  come  from  dry,  rocky  regions  of  the  Mediterranean  and  north  Africa.  They  are  very  territorial  and  it  is  best  to  house  them  individually.

A  10  gallon  terrarium  is  ok  for  one  gecko  but,  a  20  works  better.  They  do  well  in  taller  terrariums  because  they  are  mainly  arboreal.

Be  sure  to  use  a  screen  lid  with  the  terrarium.

White  spotted  geckos  require  a  temperature  gradient  from  the  to  the  top  to  the  bottom  of  the  terrarium  to  regulate  their  body  temperature.  Temperatures  should  also  vary  from  day time  to  night time  hours.

Use  two  thermometers  and  a  hydrometer  to  monitor  temperature  levels  and  humidity  levels.

The  basking  spot  should  be  the  warmest  spot  in  the  habitat  during  the  day.
Heat  should  be  provided  by  a  high  wattage  bulb  placed  directly  above  the  basking  spot.  The  light should  be  turned  off  at  night.

White  spotted  geckos  are  nocturnal,  meaning  they  are  most  active  at  night  but  will  come  out  during  the  day  and  bask.  Since they  are  nocturnal  they  do  not  need  uvb  bulbs.  As  long  as  the  terrarium  is  above  75  degrees  they  are  fine  at  room  temperature.

Use  a  2  to  3  inch  layer  of  bark  bedding  or  coconut  fiber  bought  at  local  pet stores.  Clean  out  waste  weekly,  and  clean  the  whole  cage  once  a  month.

Include  decor  to  elevate  the  gecko  closer  to  the  heat  source  for  basking.

Use  branches  for  hiding  and  climbing.

White  spotted  geckos  are  insectivores  meaning  their  diet  consist  of  primarily  of  insects.

White  spotted  geckos  will  benifit  from  a  varied  diet.

white  spotted  geckos  are  best  fed  at  night.

Water  bowls  should  be  emptied  daily.

Insects  Crickets,  Mealworms,  and  occasional  Waxworms.

Food  should  be  offered  every  other  day.

White  spotted  geckos  can  be  misted  every  other  day  with  a  spray  bottle  that  has  not  been  used  for  any  thing  else  before.

Life  Span  8  to  10  years  with  proper  care.

Size  6  to  9  inches

My First Reptile

My  first  reptile  was  actually  a  frog,  a  green  tree  frog.  He  was  very  friendly  i  could  hold  him  if      i  wanted too and  the  cool  thing  about  him  was  he  consumed  one  cricket  every  other  day.  So  he  was  also  very  cost  efficient  so  another  plus.  A  downside  was  the  sleeping  all  day  so  i  did  not  hold  him  very  often  because  he  was  nocturnal.

But  one  day  i  was  cleaning  his  cage  outside  and  he  escaped.  Rip  Forest
