Cuban knight anoles are native to cuba and non native to florida but has large populations in florida and some parts of the south. These lizards rarely leave their branches, unless they are looking for water and or crickets. Cuban knight anoles are a medium size lizard that diet consist of mainly insects and occasionally fruits. Cuban knight anoles are the largest anole species in the world. Cuban knight anoles are diurnal meaning they are active during the day and sleep at night. These lizards have nice colors. Llike most anoles this species has a large throat fan.
Cuban knight anoles use their throat fan during mating, territorial displays and just to vent out heat on a hot day.
Cuban knight anoles are generally a very aggressive lizard and will bite if provoked. Males should not be housed together they will fight and attack eachother.
The minimum cage requirement for 1 anole is a 18 by 18 by 36 foot tall cage. But bigger is better for them.
Provide decor like branches, live or artificial plants good choices for live plants are pothos, ficus, and philodendron.
The humidity should be 50 to 80 percent because these lizards come from tropical regions.
Day temperatures should be 70 to 85 degrees the basking spot should be 95 to 100 degrees.
Use a minimum of 2 to 3 inches of reptile bark bedding or coconut fiber bought at local pet stores.
When cuban knight anoles are stressed or sick they are brown, but when they are in a good mood they stay bright green.
Use a daytime uvb bulb bought at local pet stores. Keep the bulb on for 12 hours a day.
Dust insects in reptile calcium once a week. This can be bought at pet stores.
Insects Crickets, Mealworms, and occasional waxworms.
Cuban knight anoles can become tame over time but just need to get used to you.
Mist the cage 2 to 3 times a day. Also use a water bowl this helps with humidity.
This lizard will some times eat fruit.
